Exam Access Arrangements

Exam Access Arrangements are reasonable adjustments which are put in place to give candidates equal access to examinations.

Assessments for exam access arrangements are typically carried out by a pupil's school or college, however, our diagnostic dyslexia assessment may be used as evidence for exam access arrangements.  The report must comply with current JCQ regulations (the Joint Council for Qualifications).  For instance, the assessment must be carried out in Year 9 or above.
Exam access arrangements are based on a pupil's normal way of working in school. It is the school's responsibility to decide appropriate exam access arrangements.  We, or parents, can not make this decision.  The school must build a picture of need over time.
Our assessment reports can only be used if this has been agreed by the school and that we are named as their approved assessor.  The school or college must be consulted prior to the assessment. This is in accordance with current JCQ regulations which schools must strictly adhere to.
A pupil does not need a diagnosis of dyslexia or learning difference to have exam access arrangements and an assessment may not result in these being granted.

For all assessment in Year 9 or above, the school must complete the School Questionnaire and JCQ Form 8 Part 1. We must receive this information before the assessment takes place.
